Hilmi Quraishi is using mobile telephony to bring important public health messages to the masses. He envisages the widest and deepest reach through the mobile phone, the computer, and the internet—the technology tools of the future—to combat various health and other critical social problems by delivering useful knowledge products in the form of games.
By innovating a sustainable supply chain including the last-mile that is independent of national healthcare systems, Joost van Engen is creating access to essential medicines, hygiene products and supplements for low income families in remote areas, contributing to the quality of their day-to-day lives, specifically for those in remote areas in low and middle income countries.
Moka has developed a solution to radically enhance the efficiency of healthcare delivery in Kenya’s public health system by automating the supply chain of free and/or publicly subsidized essential drugs to rural health clinics. Through his innovation, Moka is ensuring that rural households are able to access high quality treatment in a reliable, affordable and timely way.
In Nicaragua, Marcos is creating a culture of preventive healthcare by providing screenings and doctor consultations for free or at greatly reduced rates. Marcos’ Estacion Vital empowers Nicaraguans, with knowledge on the status of their own health, while providing recurring educational tipsyo help citizens in the prevention of diseases and take action before they become chronic.
